Honda Recalls 800,000 Odyssey Minivans For Possible Seat Tipping

Khodrocar - Honda has initiated a voluntary recall on approximately 800,000 previous-generation Odyssey minivans (2011-2017 model years) in the United States for second-row seats that could tip forward under braking if not properly latched. Honda will initially advise owners on the issue and repair the problem once a solution is approved.

The Problem: If a second-row seat is not properly latched after a side-to-side adjustment or after reinstalling a removed seat, the seat may tip forward under moderate to heavy braking and can potentially cause injury to the occupant. However, this will not happen if the seat is properly latched to the floor. Forty-six cases of minor injuries related to the problem have been reported to Honda.

The Fix: Honda is still investigating the issue and has yet to announce a repair. For the interim, Honda will mail out a notification to owners with detailed instructions on how to properly install and position the second-row seats and will post a video to owners.honda.com detailing the proper operation of the second row. Once a repair is approved, Honda will mail out a second notification advising owners to visit a local dealer in order to have the issue fixed free of charge.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: Honda is recalling certain 2011-2017 Honda Odyssey minivans, and the issue potentially affects 806,936 units.
